Democrats meet CE to discuss bird flu
On Friday, January 16 at 12:00pm, Democratic Party Chairman Martin Lee
and other party leaders will have the latest in a series of regular meetings
with Chief Executive C.H. Tung. The meeting was requested by the democratic
leaders to discuss the recent Avian Flu (H5N1) crisis and in particular
the government's response to it. Members of the Democratic Party, including
Dr. Yeung Sum, Fred Li and health spokesmen Dr. Huang Chen-ya and Michael
Ho, will discuss with Mr. Tung both the Administration's current efforts
and long term strategy for combatting this virus, which claimed a fifth
The meeting will take place at Mr. Tung's office in the Central Government
Office building. A press conference will be held following the meeting,
at approximately 12:45pm.
